Mounted games is an equestrian discipline where
riders and their ponies compete in very fast relay races.
The riders require a high degree of athletic ability, good riding
skills, hand-to-eye coordination, determination and a competitive
spirit.
Unlike many equestrian disciplines an expensive prefixed pony
is not required and most well schooled ponies (under 15hh) will
quickly pick up the basics and become top class mounted games
ponies. The ponies love racing and will watch the starters flag
for the signal to start.
The Mounted Games Association of Great Britain was founded by
Norman Patrick on 21st January 1984 with seven teams. As the Association
continued to grow and develop, more and more county teams joined
the Association. The Association's growth is not confined to Great
Britain with 20 International Mounted Games Association member
countries throughout the world.
